As the British Society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery, we note a recent article written in the Times. We feel it is important to clarify that almost 30% of our Society's members are female orthopaedic surgeons—a figure that continues to grow year on year. Misconceptions such as those cited in the article are not new and do not reflect the evolving reality of our profession. Orthopaedic surgery is a dynamic and fulfilling field that demands a wide range of competencies—problem-solving, precision, empathy and teamwork among them. Perpetuating stereotypes discourages talented individuals from pursuing a career in Orthopaedics. We welcome all who have the skill, passion, and commitment to serve in this vital role. BSCOS Board
